Paluma Push 2013 “Done & Dusted”

Club members enjoyed another great weekend away at the 2013 Paluma Push run by Rockwheelers Townsville. The Push is always a favourite event for North Queensland and this year boasted 550 starters. 12 MAD Members made the annual pilgrimage north enjoying sweet Singletrack, deep water crossings, dense rainforest and the great company that make mountain biking the attraction it is.

World Solo 24hr Champion Jason English and honorary member of our Club was the first to cross the finish line in 2hrs 38mins and Subaru-Marathon Rider Naomi Hansen was the first woman to cross the line in 3hrs 10mins. Peter Lister was the fastest male from Mackay completing the Competition Course in 3hrs 3mins.

Special mention to Nicole taking out the Solo Female category 23-29, Lesley enjoying a PD after taking 40 mins off last years time and a huge effort to finish from 2 young MCC students doing their first even serious mountain bike race. It was great to see the new Bikes that Mackay Christian College have purchased for their students being put to good use. Tom even picked up a $200 Athletes Foot participation voucher.

It was also great to have the Bailey family doing their first "Push", not to mention 1st serious mountain bike race as well. It was great to see you out their enjoying what Mountain Biking has to offer. Welcome to the club!

If you are considering entering the PUSH next year, why not come and camp with our club at the cricket ground across the road from Hidden Valley Cabins and enjoy hot showers, an open fire and lots of fun with a great group of people.

  1. I see that a Mark Mollenhagen from your club came in 19th at the Paluma Push. Many years ago, a timber cutter called Mollenhagen was injured in a “widow maker” accident just west of Paluma and we helped him with first aid – any relation?

  2. I don’t even understand how I finished up right here, however I assumed this post used to be good.
I don’t know who you’re however certainly you are going to a famous blogger should you are not already.
    Cheers!
