Mackay Mountain Bike Cross Country Challenge – Mayor’s Message
The potential to develop a mountain biking market in the Pioneer Valley has got council excited.
We have the stunning natural environment; we have excellent elevation and substantial land availability; and we have the proximity of a major regional city and airport.
With the plan to develop 50km of international standard trails and state of the art entry and exit facilities, we believe our proposed Pioneer Valley Mountain Bike Park will create a tourism product unrivalled in Queensland, and a world class mountain biking experience.
That’s why events like this tournament, the Mackay Mountain Bike Cross Country Challenge, are very important to us. Quite simply, we aim to become the place that you will want to keep coming back to by complimenting this great Rowallan Park facility with some world class trails. This event also helps keep this sport on the top of council’s agenda.
Our congratulations to the Mackay and District Mountain Bike Club for the hard work that has delivered this quality Rowallan Park course. It is a 15km track which offers a real challenge – even for experienced riders.
The sponsors like Field Engineers enable events like to happen, so our thanks go to all sponsors who help make this possible.
But, of course, it is the competitors and supporters who really make a competition worthwhile, so thank you to everyone who has travelled to be with us for this tournament and thanks to the locals who, through their pride in our region, will make this an event to remember.
Have a great tournament.
Mayor Greg Williamson
