ABOUT OUR CLUB

Mackay and District Mountain Bike Club (MAD MTBC) was formed in 2009 by a group of friendly and passionate mountain bikers who love to ride off-road. The volunteer based organisation has continued to grow but the mission has stayed the same – to offer riders of all ages and abilities the chance to try out, and fall in love with mountain biking.

The MAD MTBC currently holds junior skills sessions “Thursday Thunder”, ladies only skills sessions and weekend social rides, for more information on these events check out our facebook page.

MAD MTBC is also passionate about all things racing, the club holds race meets from March to December and the races range from cross country series, gravity enduro series to 6 hour endurance racing. All are welcome, with the emphasis on a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Through a land use agreement with the Mackay Scouts group, The MAD MTBC has made Rowallan Park home. With 15km of expertly designed single-tracks, the trails aim to cater for everyone from the novice to the experienced rider. There are plenty of up and downhill sections, jumps, bumps, switchbacks, rock-gardens, sweeping berms, tricky trees to ride around and through, as well as a-line and b-line options to keep you on your toes. Not far from Mackay, look for the signs on Glendaragh Road.

There are plenty of social ride options to check out the park, or you can choose to ride on your own. To do any of these you must be a member of AusCycling and there is a small club fee ($4 per day) that is used for maintaining the trails. If however, you choose to become a member of the club this fee is waivered. Please see the membership tab on this website to see our many membership options, for non club members the daily ride fee is to be deposited into the honesty box in the parking area.

Dogs are not permitted at Rowallan Park.
